Can you verify
« on: April 21, 2011, 05:31:02 PM »
I thought the only differences between the A50 and the A125 was the engine size and the seat. I'm sure some other electrical components are sligtly different also but I was surprizes when on the KymcoUSA website it listed the wheelbase as 44.5in on the 50 and 51.18in on the 125. I checked on another website (motorcycle review) and it listed the same thing under wheelbase but said the over all length of the two were 6.0ft and 6.01ft respectivly. Can anyone who owns one of these units give me an accurate measurment of these two things? If this is true that means the frames are different, no big deal as I am going to purchase a non running A50 to replace some cosmetic things on my girlfriends A125 along with the wheels and tires which I know are the same. I maybe parting out the A50 afterwards if many of you need stuff from an A50 with only 1926kms on the clock.  Thanks in advance.     Tom

I would say it is a typical number bs you can often encounter with various numbers related to vehicles.

No way there is 12 cm difference in wheelbase.

I would say they are completely the same.

Thanks Axy, that is what I'm thinking too. I purchased a single scooter carrier yesterday so I could go and pickup/purchase this non-running A50. I put my A125 on it last night to have it set-up in advance so when I got to my destenation I could just load the A50 and go. I got to thinking today, what if the wheelbase is different? I checked the website and sure enough they were. I even went to the KymcoGlobal site and they have about 4 different A50 and A125. Those wheelbases are all over the place, same with overall lengths. It even shows some A50s longer than A125s in wheelbase and overall lengths. It is incrediable these figuares can be wrong, if they are. Can't anyone use a tape measure over there? Also it reads on the Kymco USA website that the A50 has 2 rear shocks, when in fact it only has one just like the picture next to it shows. Oh well enough of this, I'll find out tomorrow if the wheelbases are the same or are they different. I'll let you know.

Sounds like the frame may be the same but the engine case may be slightly longer being a larger engine. Does the 125 have 1 rear shock or 2?

The 125 has one shock. I'm home now and just measured my A125 and the wheelbase is correct, on or about 52 inches. Overall length is 72 inches, from the tip of the front wheel to the end of the flip-up on the rear fender.

the frame  is the same size We have a guy in are scoot club doing a swap and I have seen it a few times he is puting a 125 in a 50 frame. he got 2 scoots for the price of one the 50 had a bad motor and the 125 is working good with 1200 miles on it. the wheel base must be the same because the brakes line up good.

Engine case is the same.

GY6 has three different engine "lengths": short, medium and long.

They relate to the size of the rear tire.

Considering that A50 and A125 have the same tires, they have the same engine "external layout".

A125 City, however, has the "longest" GY6 engine casing version.

Yes it does, that point is embedded in the last sentence of my previous post.
