Not getting a spark at the plug
« on: February 19, 2011, 04:00:20 AM »
Im trying to resurrect a Agility 125 that had nearly every wire chewed up by mice. Ive got compression, gas, but no spark. When I take the spark plug out of the cylinder and ground it and then turn the motor to see if it sparks, there's nothing. I've tried using multiple spark plugs and same results.

This morning it was starting a lot easier and was sputtering. Now nothing. I found that when I flip the kill switch on and off I get 1 spark in between the on and off. Then nothing.

Everything else works fine that doesnt need the engine to be running (horn, brake lights) and when I'm trying to start it you can see the headlight and instrument panel lights glowing.

Anyone have any ideas?

I would guess that to be a ground somewhere it shouldn't be.  Which makes sense if all the wiring has been severely damaged.

I called up Kymco and talked to their head tech guy. I told him all the problems i had and he told me immediately it was the CDI. Because I could still get a spark but not a consistent one it was not the ignition coil. I replaced the CDI and it started immediately. I've been riding it for about 3 weeks now with no problem what- so - ever.
