Hello everyone,

Looking for a little input. Tonight I almost had my zx50 stolen. I fell asleep on the couch only to be woken by the sound the my thick ongaurd chain hitting the ground. I opened my front door to see two guys starting to push away my scooter.

They broke the steering lock mechanism. (any notes of fixing this)

How does everyone else lock up their scooters?  I thought I was safe with my Mastiff series chain and lock connected to the Kryptonite Stronghold Above-Ground Anchor. But apparently not, because I could smell hydraulic fluid where I lock up my scooter. They cut through the chain and being sneaky took the cut link to make it look like I didn't have it locked up. >:(

Does anyone know if anyone has had their scooter stolen using the brake disc locks? Are they any better?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Many of the Zena locks have an audible alarm that shrieks when you move the bike, that may help.  Maybe you can use both.  I know 50 cc bike are much easier to pick up and place in a van or truck.

Xena make the alarm I am aware of.  No knowledge of the effectiveness, just that they exist.

Sounds like you already had pretty good security on your scoot.  Just goes to show that a determined thief can steal just about anything.  All you can do is make it more difficult and time consuming to steal and hope they leave your stuff alone.  Just get thicker chain and a meaner looking lock.

I have to leave my scoot outside too, and my neighborhood pretty much sucks.  I had a honda helix stolen a couple of years ago.  Luckily I had insurance on it.

Now I have six 5-gallon buckets filled with cement as my anchor, and 5/16" chain through both wheels of my scoot.  If someone really wants to steal my 400 pound bike with 500 pounds of cement chained to it, they can be my guest.  I'm pretty sure they will make enough noise to wake me up, and take long enough for me to leisurely grab my shotgun and come outside to say hi.
