Something followed me home!
« on: April 10, 2012, 01:59:56 AM »

Hey, new member here.  I picked up a 2007 People 150 Saturday and have been kicking around town on it a bit.  It is a blast!  I'm going to post a few basic questions, I'm sure.  My ability to use the search function is fair at best.

One basic question is, there appear to be two sets of turn signals (Indicators, blinkers or as I saw them called on one site Winkers.  Winkers?) in front, but on mine only the ones on the stalks seem to function.  The ones on the front fairing panel do not.  Is this normal?  I haven't checked yet to see if the bulbs are just burnt out or if the sockets get power.

Also, I'd like to mount my Givi Monokey (Both registered trademarks of the brilliant Givi corporation, I'm sure.) case to it.  I've heard that Givi adapter plates can be affixed to the built-in rack.  Does anyone know how to do this?

And my last noob question, and probably the worst:  what online vendors are best for getting Kymco parts from.  I need a rear blinker lens.  And I think I should change the oil screen filter thingy with the imminent post-purchase, probably unnecessary oil change.  And that's all I have to say about oil.  ;)

Thanks for any help!

OBJECTS IN MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR  :D

I'll leave the tech questions to those that are more experienced  ;)

Welcome and enjoy!

Yeah your searching sucks. Welcome aboard. The winkers are US dot. The ones in the cowl are Euro/asia. You can remove the stalks, and run the wires to the cowl lights. It is illegal. You could be ticketed for it. BUT!!! Cops giving tickets to people on scooters look like A$$ holes to passing motorists/pedestrians so I think they would rather not bother.
There may be a manual in a thread called "links to manuals". Gonna have to search for it. Stadium Yamaha is my fav. for OEM parts. 10% off when you mention the forum, and free shipping over 100.00

Thanks for the welcomes.  I've ordered my blinker lens, downloaded the service manual and I'm looking at my options regarding the topcase and the front blinkers.

I'd LIKE to add on a switch and some driving lights or fog lights where the disabled bulbs are, but that sounds like a bigger project than I want to take on.  Perhaps I'll just wire them in as running lights?  Does anyone know offhand how many amperes of free current the People 150's alternator/generator/magneto creates at typical RPM versus stock draw?

Edit:  Auto correct auto-corrected my typing error into worse incorrectness.

Mine is always telling me what to do. For the free current try a few Stator rewinding shops. A few emails/calls may get the answer. Kymco is real bad at giving specs to owners for some reason.

Ah, an excellent suggestion.  I think I know where to go to find such a shop, too.  Thanks, Zombie!
