Dr. Pulley and Variator J.Costa Competition
« on: April 21, 2011, 06:46:43 PM »
Hi,

I'm thinking of changing the transmission set of my Xciting.
I have been googling the web and my choice is going to the Dr. Pulley Hit Clutch plus the J.Costa Competition variator.
For those that have already experimented these upgrade what's your opinion?
I dont have experince in high tuning and I'm just looking for upgrading the performance of my Xciting but maintaning the stability of the all set.

All suggestions and comment are apreciated.

Thanks in advance,

FSO

I have the HiT clutch on my '07 Xciting 500.  Very pleased with it -- quiet and smooth.  Lots of tuning options.  Study their instructions both on their site and on paper well.  Make changes to the springs tensions in small steps.  Get a small brake spring tool for changing springs.  The kind that looks like a T-handle with a small hook on the end.  A little pocket screwdriver is helpful there too.

Leave out the OEM torsion spring cap that sits inside the OEM clutch.  That's not spelled out in the instructions.  In fact, their diagram shows it being used.

Here are some pics of me working on my clutch and variator.  http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=3814.0

Hi Hoolander 2,

Thanks for comments.
I'm a noob in mechanics, so any changes will have to be made by an official mechanic.
However in Portugal the scooter market is only now arising and the upgrading/tuning isn't very spread so I don't have much people to change opinions.
Even the mechanics aren´t fully informed to assemble some things...

So I'm gathering the most information that I can.

Thanks a lot,
FSO
