KYMCO Canada attended the 65th International Motorcycle Exhibition in Milan
Italy (EICMA) which took place between November 6th and 11th 2007. As in
previous years, KYMCO had a strong presence at the show which attracted more
than half a million international visitors. EICMA is one of the largest motorcycle
shows in the world spanning over 8 pavilions and 5 outdoor tracks as well as a
stunt course.
KYMCO presented several new models at this year’s event, including the state of
the art MyRoad 700i maxi scooter, the newly re-designed Agility 50/125/150
scooters with 16” wheels and a more modern styling, the Xciting 300i (a smaller
version of the 500i) and the People S 300i. In the off-road category, KYMCO has
unveiled the new MXU 375 with an independent rear suspension and the UXV 500
side by side.
Most impressive in the KYMCO display area this year was the new MyRoad 700i
maxi scooter. Although a production date has not yet been set, this model is sure
to make waves in world markets with its advanced features, increased power, and
exceptional comfort. The KYMCO R&D department has spent three years
developing this brand new model with a 3 position electrically adjustable rear
suspension, ABS braking system, electronic tire pressure monitoring, integrated
anti-theft technology with a sensor ignition system,
an extended wheelbase, storage space to accommodate 2 full face helmets, and top speed of over 170km/h!
Also worth mentioning is the Xciting 500Ri – while only a prototype at the
EICMA 2006 show, this maxi scooter is now available for production. The
Xciting 500Ri features fuel injection, larger dual disk front brakes with ABS,
slightly lowered factory windscreen, a parking brake, upgraded suspension,
widertires, aerodynamic modifications and red accents that make it look sleeker and sportier than most.
The Xciting 500Ri can reach speeds in excess of 160km/h and
provides a smooth and comfortable ride.
Its debut on the North American market is expected exclusively in Canada in the spring of 2008 with an MSRP of
$7499.00.
KYMCO has added a 375 model to its MXU ATV line. This smaller version of
the MXU 500 that is currently available in North America offers an independent
rear suspension, 10 inches of ground clearance, 7 inches of suspension travel,
2WD/4WD shift on the fly, air/oil-cooling system, a digital instrumentation panel,
a shaft drive with front differential lock function and a 2 inch automotive style
receiver hitch in the rear.
Equally impressive is the new KYMCO UXV 500 side by side. Aspects of the
UXV design include extended wheel arches, integrated chassis and front bumper
for impact protection, independent front and rear suspension, a centrally mounted
engine for greater balance and stability, a large 32L fuel tank, modern headlights,
under seat storage, selectable high/low gear ratio with 2WD/4WD shift on the fly,
an engine braking system, and a very versatile load area with a tilt mechanism and a capacity of 200kg.
