fuse blowing

Hi all my ignition fuses keeps blowing without the ignition being on and was wondering if any one might have any ideas what might be the cause of it? I started the bike yesterday as normal and it ran on tick over for about 5 mins then cut out and would not fire again again later when i went back to look at it there was no power when i turned the key on due to the fuse being blown now the fuse blows with the ignition off. You didn't indicate the age of the scooter.  Is it under warranty ?

If it blows the main fuse even with the ignition switch off, then there is a shorted wire at or before the ignition switch.
Or the fusebox or ignition switch may be shorted.

If you have an electrical skills, you can start to find the problem.

Get a small 12 volt light bulb and solder wires to it and attach the wires in place of the fuse that keep blowing.
If you can't do that, then buy a 12 volt marker light and attach the wires in place of that fuse.

The idea is that the light will glow if there is a short further away.  Then you can wiggle the wires between the  fuse  and the ignition switch to see if the light goes out (short becomes unshorted).  That can help identify the approximate location of the short.

Once you find the general location of the short, you may be able to insulate the wire or replace the faulty component.

Using a light bulb in place of the fuse allows you to not have to keep replacing a blown fuse.

Ypu may need to buy a multimeter to isolate the problem. 
And you may have to charge the battery if you spend a lot of time with the light burning.

I had almost the same thing happen to me,and it was a easy fix. check your wires that go along your stearing under the plastic sometimes with all the turnig that you do  wear the wires down. All I had to do was put some elc. tape over it , Good luck

Thanks for the replies I am going to have another look at it later. The bike is  a 2003 kymco pulsar. just befor the fuse blows i can smell electrical burning so will see if i can locate where that is coming from. I am wondering if it could be the starter solinoid being faulty. will let you know how i get on.

Sounds like a short in you ignition switch relay.  Either open the thing up and check it yourself, or take it to a shop for a look.
Since you are smelling the short, it should be easy to find the problem.
Don't wait on this fix!!!

I would like to ask a question about this i got the same sort of problem, lost my key got a new key cut but now when i turn the key nothing happens i have to kick start the bike the horn doesnt sound the lights are very very dim (hardley work) wondered could this be because he took the ignition barell to peices, currently in process of making it a chopper kinda style street fighter and got a new ignition barrel to come but wheres the fuses? and if so is this what happens when the fuse blows

where is the ignition switch relay??? Maybe thats the problem with mine
