Was hoping for at least one more reply. Ready to pull the trigger today but since it is 2 1/2 years old want to know I'm making a sound decision. Please comment.

Scooter is new and at listed Kymco dealer that seems to do very little scooter business. They have about four Kymco's and a also a few Lance models. Kymco's are all 2009's.

Add immediately to that price cost of tire purchase and replacement, if you plan to drive it in the rain, and change of brake and transmission oil.
I would try to shave off another 100 US$. :)

In my mind wanted a hundred off. Settled for a nice helmet and a pair of gloves to sweeten the deal. $20 to deliver here this evening from 35 miles away and I am now a happy camper.

The tires I heard were total crap. What do you mean about trans and break change?

it was a good deal. dealer invoice on a 2009 Agility is $1525. a "new" one is now MSRP $1799 before taxes, title, fees, prep, freight, etc. but i doubt many 2011 Agility's are out there, much less 2010. plenty of 2009's have been selling, though. model years just go like that in the scooter biz, and you're getting a good deal because of it. free gloves and helmet? sweet

once rode off the lot and a few thousand miles put on, a 2009 Agility is worth as much $ on the real world scooter market as a 2011. maybe a couple hundred $'s less. in a couple years, however, it all goes even if you're selling it. who has got the best used Agility at the best price is all a used buyer cares about.

i don't mind the tires on mine and have rode in the wet, if not heavy rain. they seem ok but skittish at times. i just ride carefully. otherwise i have read complaints about them in general here and there but i am left scratching my head. at 4000km (2500 miles)  they are performing admirably.

its a good, solid scooter. use a good, non greasy / shiny product to keep all that black trim black and the scooter actually looks pretty good, too. its a solid small bike imo

Thanks MrK. It should be here within the hour. Just got off the line with insurance Co.
Have already been checking into the maintenance routines. I may be off base, but it seems Kymco calls for the off beat oils so you almost have to return to dealer. 15w40 oil from what I have seen is most often used for diesel engines and is not even offered in a synthetic. Same with the SAE90 gear oil. No synthetic equivalent :~( Read somewhere in here that a reputable 10w40 full synthetic will be fine. What synthetic gear oil can I use?

Just found Royal Purple and Lucas 15w40 synthetic engine oils. Does anyone know if one is any better than the other?

you can take the oil recs with a grain of salt. the "40" part is what is important after an oil gets warm and most any oil rated 5w40 -15w40 will be fine in the scooter. i believe the lower the first number the better the oil pours and flows in the frigid cold. but once it gets all warmed up and circulated, it doesn't matter. so if your average temps are say 40 degrees and above where you live you are good to go with whatever

up until 1200-1500 miles most recommend sticking with conventional oil to help the engine break in and seat properly. during this period you can use 10w40 conventional motor oil or the 15w40 diesel oil such as Shell Rotella T. the reason 15w40 Rotella is recommended by many a manufacturer is it performs very well in small engines, and is considered a "heavy duty" motor oil with special detergents and deposit reducing additives. motorcyclists swear by it because it uses no "friction modifiers" so it won't affect the performance or reliability of the bikes wet clutch. others swear by it because they use it in everything from their cycles to cars to lawnmowers and snowmobiles and say it works very well for them. i use it even now with 2400 miles on the odo and change it every 1000 miles because i do my own changes and may as well

Rotella is the most respected brand, but Mobil also makes a 15w40, as well a few other popular oil brands. the SYNTHETIC equivalent is usually a 5w40. the Shell version is Rotella T6. the oil can be found at Walmart or auto parts store. the regular Rotella T 15w40 is usually around or under $15 a gallon, the synthetic 5w40 T6 hovers around or under $20 a gallon. so its economical, too

all that said, many choose just regular 'ol 10w40 synthetic motor oil for scooter applications, as it hasn't a wet clutch to be concerned with. Mobil 1, Castrol Syntex, or whatever is on sale. some use 5w40 when the weather gets cold or otherwise. and again, many just stick with the heavy duty 15w40 conventional as i am. i had Mobil 1 High Mileage synthetic in around 300 miles ago, but wanted to try the 15w40 Rotella T because many swear by it. i picked up a gallon for $11 on sale at a local auto parts and so far, so good. when the gallon is gone, who knows?

so far as the gear oil i use semi synthetic Valvoline. its a proper weight and is just fine

http://www.amazon.com/Valvoline-DuraBlend-Gear-80W-90-quart/dp/B0002JN5LU

so imo use 10w40 or 15w40 conventional oil until 1200-1500 miles and then switch to 10w40 synthetic, 5w40 Rotella T6 synthetic, or 15w40 conventional diesel oil such as Rotella T. or go with the Royal Purple or Lucas if you like.  its all good imo so long as you change it at appropriate intervals :)

Thanks. I bought a couple quarts of 15w40 for the first couple changes. Plan on 100-200, 600, and will get another for 1000. Then at 1300-1500 will go to Royal Purple 15w40. Is it OK to use 75w90 synthetic instead of the SAE90 and also go to it at first change between 100-200? I know that engines should be broken-in on petro based oil. What about the rear end?
