Massive fuel leak!
« on: August 05, 2011, 11:46:06 AM »
Hey guy and gals, I went out to my garage this morning and was suprised to find a large puddle of fuel under my scoot.  :( After taking the off the seat and air filter, i found fuel just dripping from the carb intake. What could cause this? Im thinking maybe ive got a carb float thats stuck down, causing the bowl to overflow? Is there some sort of fuel shut of valve anywhere on these bikes? Its an 08 agility 50, and im not sure if the carb is the original or not. Also, what is the valve on the bottom of the fuel tank? It looks kinda like a diaphram with the fuel line and a vacuum line connected to it. Any help would be great!

no shot off vales on the scoot and the thing on the bottom of the tank is your petcock it controls the amount of gas going to your carb. I would just try to pitch off the gas line and see whats going on with your carb. take it off and do a good cleaning use carb cleaner and speray everything good becarefull there are a few little pieces in the carb that has to go back the same way.

The valve under the tank is a vacuum valve, with the engine stopped, no fuel should get past it. It sounds like this valve is not working correctly, then there is the float valve in your carb which seems to be allowing fuel past as well. It is not unheard of for both to play up at the same time, though I think the vacuum valve, when working properly, could mask the float valve fault.

Thanks guys! Ill take the vacuum valve off the tank tonight and try to clean it out, and maybe replace it if i can find one. Since my electric choke was already faulty, i went ahead and ordered a new 20mm carb. Hope that fixes both the choke and float problems.  :)

Just an update, i found the source of my fuel leak. The vacuum shut off valve was leaking fuel through the diaphram and into the intake manifold and filling the crank case with fuel and eventually coming back out of the carb. not good.

not to worry to much just do a realy good oil change take the oil screen out  and clean add alittle seafoam and runn the scoot for a week or so then do another oil change. after that you should be good.
