Fog lights?

So I'm looking at the front fairing of the bike under the front lights, is there any possible option of putting some sort of fog lights in there?

I've had my front fairing on and off so many times,  the screw holes are getting worn out.
First  Fog Lights.  Most are halogen and use a sufficient amount of power.  I just turned
down a gift of Hot Grips because they use too much current.

I do however have a plethora of LED Lights.  (Superlumination.com or Virtual Village)  Also have the multiple
flashing light on the rear.  ($29.95).    I believe you need to be seen rather than see.  I'll
say this because if I know conditions are unfavorable I don't ride.  (The most common thing
in fog is steaming the faceshield.)   I mounted my lights each side of the rear license plate
and higher up on the front on each side.   Keep them as far out as you can,  so you'll look
wider / bigger.

The only possible "option" we can see is if you can get your hands on one of the headlight modules which has the position lights to the sides of the headlight.  You should already have wireing in place for them.  Think that module is used in countries other than USA.  I've seen them on ebay international. 

Other than that, you'd probably have to do some cutting or modification to something to install fog lights.  The big opening under the headlight pretty much fills up with front fender when the forks compress all the way. 

I bought my Xciting used and it had mini LED lighting (orange to match the scooter) mounted on the radiator.  I moved them and mounted them on the brake hoses behind and slightly to the inside of the forks.  You can just catch a glimpse of them shining at night from directly in front of the scooter. Otherwise you'd never know they're there.   

Fog lights can get pretty hot and could melt plastic if too close so be careful where you might choose to mount.  The whole front end is pretty much plastic so the question is where?  On the fork lower tubes, maybe?

I have an idea to use these with a custom wiring job.




They look like they would be small enough to mount where I want without causing spacial problems.  They are just big enough to almost fill that space on the front and look OEM.

Those appear to be LEDs, right?  That'd be good.  Are you talking about the space where those little grilles are?  I think that would be nice indeed.

These lights pictured are the first order I had with Superlumination.
$24.99 each.  Being my first LED experience,  I unintentionally
mixed the leads and blew a few of the LEDs.  This light is a really
good quality item.  Unfortunately it'll cost more to fix them than
they cost.  Just to doublecheck,  I just removed my fairing and
these lights are too big to fit either behind or in front of the little
grills.  They are quite heavy too.

You can go to Lowes,  Menards or Home Depot.  In the section
where they sell bracketry to build decks.  Look for an angle
about 6" lg. each leg.  1 1/2" wide and maybe .090" thick.  They
have holes in them,  but you can trim them down,  round the corners
and paint them.  Mount them on either side of the fairing just
above and behind the turnsignals.

Thanks for the information Urbest... Looks like I may have to go into fabwork to create what I'm after.  Out of curiosity, do you know what the depth is behind the front fairing?

Not Much...The Turnsignal housing gets in the way.  Actually the height
is less than the light and the width isn't much better.  Just put
mine back together.  Here in South Central Indiana it's 70 degrees.
I just installed the LED Driving Lights I bought from Virtual Village.
The light in the picture is really big and the casing is cast, so it's
heavy.

The round lights I just took off are in the picture.  I can say,  the Police stopped
me one morning and tried to say the lights were blue and illegal.  They are a cool
white and he had to agree on closer examination.  The new ones have a blue tint too.

Mount some LED PIAA's on the mount bolts for the disk brakes.   I've run PIAA's there on other bikes and really liked it.  I'd recommend you use a relay even though the LED's don't draw as much as little halogens would.
