moving on up
« on: August 01, 2011, 08:28:41 PM »
Hi, I've had an agility 50 for 2 summers now and recently got my motorcycle license, now it's time to move up to a faster scoot. I love the looks of the super8 and want to get one soon. Can you guys give me the good and bad points of owning one? How fast can I expect it to reach on flat surfaces and steep hills? Is there much maintanance on these? Any advice you can give me,GOOD and BAD will be very helpful.   Thank You   DALE

Dale , you may have already done this , but if not you might want to start your research by reading everything in the super 8 150 subsection on this forum . Good luck .

For the price, this is a good scooter.
Every bike has some things to nit pick.
For me, it would be the hard seat and suspension.
My clutch started to slip at 3000 miles, but replacement is cheap.
Quick around town.  Likes to cruise at 45 mph but have had it up to 65 mph.  Hills, no problem up to 50 mph.
Best motorbike (including full sized motorcycle) for passengers so far!  I actually like to ride with my wife on this one!
More good than bad, so get one and love it.

You'll love the Super 8.  I have "graduated" as you also starting with an Agility 50.  The Super 8 is a much better commuting scoot.  I live in a suburb and the Super 8 150 gets me to work in traffic with less worries because I can keep up now.  Funny though, and I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but I now find myself looking seriously at an Xciting 250 as another step up.  I kept the Agility for around my little town.

I bought a Super 8 last November.  It was my first scooter and I love it.  I recently got an Aprilia Sport City 250 for longer trips and 2 up riding but for around town I like the S 8 better.

Here's my ride report with a lot of pics and info on the S 8: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=647784

I even took my S 8 to Deals Gap and the Smoky mountains and had a blast.  That report is here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=670468

I too am interested in the right scoot for some 2 up non-interstate riding and seriously considering a new '09 Exciting 250.
