merits of buying after warranty protection-kymco downtown 300i

i just bought the new dt 300i////while the dealer did not try to push the after warranty protection plan on me ....i decided not to get it at this point.....as it can be bought later from kymco....if you want it.

i would be interested in the merits of getting extended coverage ....anyone out there buy it?.....did you use it?.....what did it cover?

i have been told by another kymco dealer that its not worth getting (hard to believe he would say that but he did)as it only covers for manufacturing defaults and not maintenance or part removal and replacement..... he noted that if there were something seriously wrong with the engine it would show up well within the two year warranty....

what do you think....what would you suggest......thanks again....robo

I just put this sentence in bold "if there were something seriously wrong with the engine it would show up well within the two year warranty" and agreed.  With Kymco's rep I don't think I would buy into any extended warranty unless I was going to put some serious miles on it or beat on it everywhere I went.  However, I have the type of luck that if there were 1000 DT's in a warehouse with only one being defective I would pick it EVERYTIME...hence topping out at 8100 RPM and only 85 MPH indicated.

goodrich....you and i are "cu dae la"....from larry david's episode ." curb your enthusiasm."....meaning we are simpatico.....the essence of what you said is what i am getting from other blogs i post on as well....i do about 75 % in town or local town hopping the rest on tour/highways...where i appreciate the extra power needed .

my luck is also lousy when trying to cash in on anything extended.....dealers see me and immediately close shop.....trying to get them to make good on just about anything (at no charge)is like trying to separate oil from vinegar.....
