Electric Jacket Liner Okay?
« on: November 04, 2018, 03:44:19 AM »
I'm a newbie, but I found some discussions about cold weather riding. However, I haven't seen any say they've successfully connected and run an electric jacket liner on a smaller scoot like our 250's.

Does anyone know for sure if it will work, or will it draw to much from the battery?

Thanks for your help!

I've resisted trying it for the same concern.
I think it is Milwaukie (the tool co.) that has a liner which runs off of a rechargeable pack. Made for construction workers - so hopefully it can warm for hours. ??

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

There was a discussion about how much spare power there is on the Downtown 300i recently. It was determined that there's not much. Chances are that the older 250's are similar.

If the rechargable liners don't last long enough, maybe you could haul a deep cycle battery under the seat?

Join the merry bunch here, OldCoot! Little late at welcoming you but you just fit right in anyway! Welcome!

Anyway, Hypo brings up a point about the DT300i and its electrical power reserve. Don't know. They don't specify. What they do say is the stator is the weak link and "must produce a minimum of 12.5 amps at 4000 rpm." I have been working on trying to find what the "normal" running load is using my DT as the guinea pig. Not done yet...
