CDI Box

Hi all,

I've been lurking in this forum since I bought a used (2004, I think) People 50. It runs great most of the time, so when I do have issues I can almost always find a solution on this site. I have been reading about the derestrictions you can perform on a People 50, and just wanted to make sure my CDI has been derestriced. I posted a picture for you all to see. The shop I bought the scooter from says it has been derestriced, but I can only go around 38 mph going down a really big hill and I only weigh 120 lbs. Also, I lose significant power going up a hill (like down to 20 mph). Flat surfaces tend to top out around 32 mph. I have also discovered that my gps reads about 5 mph slower than my dash, so these numbers are what the gps says, not the dash. I don't own an impact wrench or anything to get the variator nut off to see if the boss drive has been derestricted or not, but the CDI is an easy one to check. Thanks all for your imput!

Hello,

one of my scooters had same CDI unit, the trick in there is, if those wires are unplugged, its unrestricted, if you connect them, then restricted nothing else about this CDI ;)

Also good advise to look parts from here, as you have big wheels, perfomance is little bit different than other scooters with 10-13" wheels.

Good luck!
