Agility Mods, (or, How to void your warrentee!)
« on: December 24, 2008, 08:10:30 PM »
 I have been looking, and call me crazy, but my 09 Agility SEEMS to have a "Standard GY6" configureation........hhhmmmm.....
 I see on this website, Jap-Rider Boyz with mods on thier scooters....HHHMMMmmmm(again)
 I talked to my dealer about performance stuff and he says a "New Cataloge" of stuff due out in January or so. I ask him, does any of this stuff void my warrentee if I have HIM install it? (I wanted better air filter/exhaust/carb jet package for "cruising." ;D) He says ANY MOD, DONE BY ANYONE, EVEN GOD, WILL VOID THE WARRENTEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! ???
 HHHMMMMMM (yet, again) ::)
 I have checked and looked........ I have researched....... I have re-researched.......
 And I haven't found much of anything in the way of mechanical complaints on this machine's power plant as far as reliablity issues. Which leads me to believe that it is at the very least reliable with proper maintenance..........
 I like to break in my new machines, all of them, in a little on the "Babying" side, mostly because I made my living as a mechanic, and I like my stuff to last a while. I do this with extra care and high quality oils, ect. when the machine is new. I generally let the dealer do the first service, just for the warrenttee stuff alone...........
 Usually, I will redo MOST, IF NOT ALL OF THIS SAME SERVICING AS SOON AS I GET SAID VEHICAL HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 Why? Easy, I used to work as a mechanic, and a supervisor, so in the interest of Quality control....(not that I would EVER 'dis' another mechanic's ability, or whether He wanted to be doing that job, ect)
I actually ENJOY tinkering. SO................
 I think I will try the preformance parts on my agility anyway, after breakin, VOIDING THE WARRENTEE, just to see if they fit on a Aglility engine/scooter configeration, or are we really stuck having to buy "special Kymco high performance parts" to do the same.
 If they fit, or can be modified easily to make them fit they will stay.
 This engine SEEMS to be the copy of Honda's 125, the original GY6, if so then "most" aftermarket parts should work. Something I found untrue for the Yamaha 125 Vino, it has a secondary oil filter system that the standard GY6 does not, preventing the use of almost all of the hi-pro stuff available in the aftermarket.
 Should I really care about the warrentee? Lemme see....
My vino was still under warrentee when someone stole and thrashed it! Yep, that thar warenttee did me alot of good, it did.
 My therory has always been this: Break 'er in easy, then ride it like you stole it!
