Any gain with super unleaded? *Updated*

Anyone tried Super unleaded in their Agility 50 and if so did it make a difference? I know the engine is optimized for 92-95 ron but some 4 stroke petrol engines do run better on a higher ron and was going to try on my next tank of fuel. With 101Km on the clock the engine is loosening up nicely other than a mild vibration noise at approx 33mph.

Put £4 of 97 Ron super in the bike today and drove 10 miles, bike is running slightly smoother and seems to pick up better can't say it is actually faster just more responsive and smoother. Will keep you posted on how it goes.

I use shell gas super unleaded a few times just to help clean the carb out.Never realy notice a big Dif in a gain.

I always run super and always recommend others do to, a must with BBK's. High compression engines such as ours burns much cleaner and will eliminate the possibility of detonation due to bad gas. For a few more pennies its worth the comfort to me.

I agree but I was also told not to burn super to much because of the metal they make the gas tank out of.

Thanks for the replies from research seems to be two camp's the do not bother and go for it. I know without proper timing advance the engine won't be able to make best use of it but the extra additives and cleaner burn should/may help either mpg or running. Seems engines like people are individuals and even between the same engine some work well some show no difference on super unleaded.

Will give it ago as and when I need to fill done 101Km on a quarter of a tank so far or a weeks commute so pretty decent. Also got a £50 fuel card to come from Kymco who are offering £50 of free fuel for any new bike brought between the 1st and 31st of September, so can afford to be a bit more extravagant

Hmm, never heard anything about the metal used in the fuel tank being affected by higher octane fuel. Can you elaborate at all blue? Is this a Kymco specific issue that you've heard of?

I was told by the dealer to use only premium.  But also from my other experience with higher compression vehicles I would use it anyways.

With the size of these tanks cost doesn't matter lol.

I am averaging about 110 MPG.

In the UK normal unleaded is 95 then Super unleaded is 97 then we have some "Ultra" fuels of around 99 ron. Many performance petrol car's here need 97 to run at their best.

RON is a different rating method and the numbers are higher.  We use the average of MON and RON (M+R/2).  Your 95 RON normal unleaded petrol is the same as our 87 (M+R/2) regular unleaded.

 just going by what the dealer here said but I have leard not to leason to the dealer they are only in to makeing a buck and not careing about the scott after its out of there hands.

There are always a lot of different opinions about what type of fuel to run with scooters mostly I hear and subscribe myself to the belief of premium octane fuels but I have never heard anyone telling a horror story because they were using regular unleaded as opposed to premium. All and all we probly all keep up with each other and will get the same life out of our scoots.

Unless we have BBK's then its a whole other story something with that high compression should be using a premium rated fuel without a doubt in my book.

if you run super  in the scoot all the time dont you have to worry about running the scoot eather to rich or to lean. or maybe it does not matter.

Since I've always run premium and have done quite a bit of tweaking to my scoot I'm not sure if it would have any adverse effects on running too rich or too lean.

I know its a very fine line for me which I feel like I'm always dancing on but its because of the mods I have done in my case.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this one?
