That would depend of how it was acting before it quit, but I would check/adjust the pickup sensor on the front wheel.  Then verify the wiring connections from there to the dash.

Did anything else on the dash stop working?

Speedometer only, not odometer?
Disconnecting the battery over night might reset it. That worked for me when both quit, but signal from hall sensor was still ok.

The speedometer quit while riding. Might have hit bump to knock front wheel sensor
out of adjustment. The fella at columbia scooter thought i could loosen the front wheel
assembly and adjust with allen wrench. What do you think? The odometer is still working
fine. Klicking off miles with no problem. A few days ago the needle fell to zero and hasn't
moved sence. Someone please help. Thanks Don

fine.
Then the sensor is ok, the bug is inside the dash.

Get this scooter fans. I've been whining cause my speedometer quit working for no good
reason a few days ago. Well Sunday morning I turn on the key and the needle swings all
the way clockwise and all the way back. So I'm thinking that's a strange one. I took off
for a ride and the speedometer has worked ever since. Go figure. Ride safe scooter friends.

Most likely... hm... I can`t find the right word in English.
Maybe something like "cold weld"?

Contact between electronic components that is established when atmospheric conditions are favorable (moisture, pressure) and it gets broken under normal conditions... usually due to mechanical movement of components/board and/or poor component welding quality.

I had such issue with my LCD tachometer on Beverly. It was first fixed by skilled person re-welding using microscope, died again (due to corrosion) and then I had it replaced with another unit taken from scrapped bike. That LCD tacho was around 120 US$ new... :(

Some of these modern gauges do a full sweep when in test mode. I put a Cobra tacho on my Boulevard, every time I switch the ignition on it does a sweep of the gauge. It sounds like your's has detected a fault and gone into test mode.

That is true. Speedo on P250S does that, so does the one in my car.
