Just got 200i
« on: April 21, 2012, 10:03:33 PM »
Just got a 200i and rode it for an hour at 60mph.  When i stopped my entire forearm shook for 20 minutes and my neck felt like bugs were crawling on it.  Lots of vibration !!!

Vibration from WHAT? Mine has been smooth from the start and I have over 10000 miles on it now. A sustained 60 mph will tire even a young guy or gal. Gripping the hand grips too tightly will produce lotsa pain. Wind buffet and drag on your upper body will force you to grip tightly and put some of your parts to sleep. Worse for old guys and gals. Work up to it.

I have not had any issues that you speak of.  But that much vibration could be of a concern.  But like the other post indicated, these scooters and their engines can cause some conditions that are normal but newer riders are not used to.  A couple of things:
1- If the scooter is new, really try not to go top speed (or over 45-50) until after a couple of hundred miles.  An engine/scoot that is not fully broken in, can cause some "weirdness" etc.
2- By all means, call or re-visit the dealer you bought it from and ask about this.
3- Scooters ride differently than motorcycles, the smaller wheels are more "sensitive" to road conditions.
4- I have never had a scooter/motorcycle with a properly balanced set of wheels.  Balancing a scooter wheel is difficult unless the shop is really good.  Try getting your wheels balanced.  (At the least check air pressure, and all nuts & bolts etc)
5- A GREAT product for balancing wheels is Dyno Beads.  I have been using them on all my two wheeled rides for years.  Here is the web site:
http://www.innovativebalancing.com

They really work and are not hard to install (if you have a valve core remover tool and air compressor).  Check out the site for more info.

If your condition is a balance issue, Dyno Beads are worth the look.

My Like 200i rides very smooth as is, but I will be putting in a set of Dyno Beads after my first oil change, since I still haven't hit 300 miles yet...I know, mild winter in Philly area...what is my problem?

Wind and "newness" are things you will get used to.  I am sure it is nothing.  The Likes are some of the best built rides out there.  You can also look into different grips, but again,  think the more you ride, the more this will not be an issue.

Be safe and good luck with your scoot.

The 200i is one of the smoothest Kymco engines at the moment.

Thanks for the great info.  I just bought it yesterday used for $2100.  It's a 2011 with 500 miles.   600 now that I drove it home.  I plan to just cruise around backroads in my area and not do highway driving so it's all great.  Very nice bike and I expect its my lack of being used to going 60 for an hour and half.  All that wind hitting me.  It drives great for having little wheels too and at 500 miles is broken in.  Thanks.

It'll probably loosen up a bit more.. and you should probably consider
adding a windscreen.

500 to 600 miles seems to be NUTHIN' to the Kymco 175 cc injected, water cooled engine. Took 4000 miles for my Yager to "break in" and get over 90 mpg (from the high 70s to start with). You got a really good deal for that money unless the bike was squashed.

Is this your first bike? You might be to tense. Relax.
