Installing 72cc upgrade....Need help
« on: December 02, 2011, 07:59:54 AM »
Package just came in today

Started on it tonight. A little more to it than I thought. It's kinda a pain to replace the carb cable with the new one from the kit. There's a junction under the floor where one cable splits to two that is a pain to get to and I still haven't removed the old. I think I have to take the cable out of the twist throttle itself before it will come apart. Like I said a pain.

Also took me a while to figure out how the wrist pin clips go in. Still lots more to finish tomorrow.

No, just from the carb to the junction. The Dellorto doesn't use the twist on connection like Keihin uses

I got it all together and all it will do is idle. If I touch the throttle it dies. If I take the choke off it dies. I have opened the jet up from 80 to like 100 progressively and still the same thing. Do I need to go bigger? I have 72cc kit, 19mm dellorto carb, and malossi air filter. It's like it's not getting enough fuel. I pulled the fuel filter out to be sure, still nothing. What should I do?

My pilot jet is getting clogged. I cleaned it, put it back together, got it to idle(barely), turned it off, took the carb back off and the pilot jet was clogged again. 3 times over that happened.

Going to get some carb cleaner today. I didn't think I was going to have to clean a brand new carburetor.

Just drained the tank to use premix. The filter is back in and still not running. I highly doubt the crap came from my tank.

The reeds that came in the kit didn't work with my people 2t. That's what the problem was.
I may have been mistaken about the jet getting clogged. And what I thought was the idle jet was actually the choke jet.

It runs great! Like the kit just brought all of my other upgrades together. I can do 45mph with power to spare. Hills are no longer a struggle. I am trying to keep it below 50mph just for the break in anyway.  ;D
