Changed my Belt and Rollers
« on: November 03, 2011, 02:42:16 AM »
;D  Hey everyone, changed my belt and rollers today.  I have never done this and I found this YouTube video that gave a good understanding of how the variator works.

I was done in about 50 minutes because I knew what I was getting into ahead of time.  Getting the variator off was easy using last link.

Because of the first link, I am taking it apart again, to clean and use the graphite powder that it suggests and really look at what my scoot is about.  I was very nervous doing this, took it on a test run and it ran great.  I plan on posting pics on tomorrows clean up and for those (like me) that have never done it.

Love this site, and thanks

Just out of intrest what made you decide belt and rollers needed changing, was you doing it because you thought it needed doing as part of service or was it a upgrade or were you having problems running, i only ask this so i get a idea when mine may need doing although i hope at 1400km its not for a couple of years/miles...
IF IT IS NOT BROKE DONT FIX IT:)

I have around 12,000 km on mine.  I had my rollers and belt replaced about a year ago and they showed me my rollers back then and they were flattened out, so just getting ready for the winter, decided to go ahead and replace.  Rollers needed it, 3 out of 6 had flat spots, but the belt seemed fine.  I went ahead and put on the new one and keeping the other one as a spare for later down the road.  The scoot is running a little sluggish as of lately, and I am just doing little things to see if it fixes it.  I think my jet or carb needs adjusted/cleaned.  It will idle die on me at stop lights and signs, I have to keep revving it to keep it from dying.  I know belts and rollers have nothing to do with that, but I already had the parts so....

didn't have time to do a clean up, but I plan to soon and will take pics and post.  Got busy with other stuff and it is rainy and cold out.

...might want to check your air filter for that idle dying problem...need to clean it periodically..

..with 12,000 kms, it's way past time to adjust your valves..could very likely be the cause of your sluggish performance..
