battery tender hook-up for dt 300
« on: January 03, 2012, 05:18:07 AM »
as the real winter seems to be knocking on the door....at least in my area.....its time to think about getting a battery tender for my dt 300...as i try to ride year round as much as possible....but within the limits of snow and ice of course.

i have a tender for my other scooter which was pretty easy to hook up as the battery is right behind and above the muffler...so once hooked up.... the pig tail .....is easy to get to for connection to the charger....

as the battery for the dt300....sits under the seat tray....it is not easy to get to......but i still like the idea of using a tender...therefore ...i would like any suggestions out there from dt owners....as to the best way to set up to expose the tender pigtail.....without having to drill a hole in the tray...or anywhere else for that matter.....has anyone done yet?....suggestions appreciated.....

I had the shop fit one to mine when it was being serviced. The pigtail sits at the back of the underseat compartment. I don't think any hole was drilled to accomodate it.

I did this two weeks ago. It's a bit tricky to refit the battery retainer plate. In the end I had to leave out the top two screws on the plate to make it work. Doesn't seem to effect any thing with the bike. Also I bring the leads from the Battery Tender into the seat pan through the seat cable adj. hatch so I can lock down the seat. This way the met in light stays off.

I got lucky on mine I guess my dealer had already installed a pig tail on mine..
When I bought a charger and looked at the tender I thought I've seen that and
went out and looked under the bike and found it..

It was on the "drivers" side

Since A picture tells a 1000 words, I have here my setup.
It's the same as described by bobofgsm, only I was able to screw the retaining plate completely back together.
Sorry forgot to take pictures with the seat pan out...

I can close the seat.
My charger is the CTEC 3300.

Have Fun.
