Kappa adjustable windshield
« on: January 06, 2012, 03:28:43 PM »
I was perusing flea bay and came across this windshield. It is sold by an Italian company with no distributorship in the US. So far, I've inquired about shipping costs. What do you all think about this one? It is priced at about $150 less shipping. I like the fact it is adjustable on the fly with no tools. My only concern is that the European 500's have a different style nose over the US ones. Not sure about fitment...

That's what I was thinking, but the frame mounting should be the same?

What do you mean by Frame Mounting?

Hey, anyway, I think what you're getting at is that the mounting points for the windshield are independant of the fairing.  Yeah, I suppose that's right so it might just work.  Why don't you email them and ask about it.  It looks like it might cover up where the horn is on our USA fairings, possibly, but may still let the horn's blast out.   Wonder if they've moved the horn in the new euro/asian fairings?

You know, looking at the new style fairings, they're still pretty much the same as the old ones up around the windshield area and in the areas where they meet the dash and kick area.

Hi Hoolander, yes, what I meant was the steel frame mounts under the fairing should be the same as all global versions. I did email the seller with no response as of yet. There is also another seller in Canada with a Givi version for $209.00. It too, shows the twin Euro version fairing. No response from them either  :(
BTW, I love the headlight conversion on your 500. Looks amazing. I will have to move that mod up on my priority list! (I'll wait till the wife goes to bed before doing another internet order....Shhhh!)

I doubt it will fit? I may be wrong. If it fits both the 300i and the new-er europe X500, then I would go to or call a dealer who has a 300i and ask him if it will fit, & or are the mounting points the same as our (OLD) X500's. Nice shield, I think I would like it better than my barn door GIVI. Though it beats the heck out of the standard shield. :-*

The seller did get back to me. They say it will only work on the Euro bikes and not the USA market. We are limited to the taller one piece GIVI screen here for the x500.
Bummer...

I used laminar lips on my last m-cycle. They work fine, but they are way to short to do any good on an X500 with how short the new w-shields are on the 2009's and up. (to short for me that is, as I need to set straight up). Back problems you know. But they are great, and are of good quality. :-*
