300GT vs 500XC
« on: February 11, 2012, 04:30:52 PM »
I would like to get opinions on the performance differences between the Kymco 300 s and the Kymco 500 s taking into account weight differences and power to weight ratio differences of these two scoots.
How well will a 300 perform against a 500 ?.

I've seen a video on youtube that shows the acceleration differences between the tmax, xciting 500 and downtown 300
in a few runs, but without mentioning the speeds they were going for. The Tmax was obviously the fastest of the bunch,
but in the short burst of acceleration, the XC500 managed to get away by only one scooter length from the DT300.

I've seen virtually the same 0-60mph performance figures for the two, and even better for People 300GTi then both of them.
Just Dr Pulley sliders will make the DT300/People 300 accelerate faster then the XC500 and Tmax up to about 60mph.

The top speed difference between the DT300 and Xciting 500 is 5mph exactly (GPS) in favor of the Xciting.

Thanks Cortez.
I am trying to locate a GT to try out.
98% of my riding will be 65 mph or under.
I know there are some real nice scoots out there but, I really don`t like the idea of a scoot weighing 450-650 pounds. Just not for me.
Im thinking the DT 300 or GT 300 will suit my needs well.
Just trying to locate a GT before making up my mind.
Thanks again.

You really need to try both the DT and GT.

If you're concerned about the weight and ease of use, the XC is not for you, and between the DT and GT,
the DT is a LOT faster to respond to steering inputs, even if it's heavier then the GT.

However, the GT will be faster up to 65mph you mentioned, and generally accelerate better from 30-50 etc
in stock trim.. but that's very easy to fix on the DT (which is tuned more for 55-75mph acceleration).

XC500 seems heavy when you look at it, IS heavy when you read the specs.. and it sure feels heavy around
town. Even the 250cc Xciting takes a lot more effort around town then the DT/GT.
