Puig 992/991 windscreen
« on: February 25, 2012, 09:45:00 PM »
I am looking at getting a windscreen for my son's 2008 Agility 50.  I have narrowed it down to either the Puig Touring or Sport windscreen.  While the Touring provides more protection, I worry that the top of the screen at eye level would be a distraction.  He is 5' 11" and sits up straight in the seat.  The Sport looks cooler, especially in smoke, but does it offer any protection?

The windshield creates a barrier of moving air in front of it. That air if focused correctly will deflect small light objects in it's "wake". A TINY screen on the front of a race bike creates enough of a barrier for the rider to tuck behind, and become invisible to the otherwise "flat or surface" air. I hope you get the concept. You do NOT have to be behind the shield to get its benefits. Even moderate rain will be deflected up and over the driver if the shield is positioned correctly.

This link gives Givi's sales pitch on a product. It is the same with out the HYPE, as wind shear dynamics stay constant... with or with out a GIZMO. That being said buy the boy a PINK piece of cardboard. The "rich" kids with Corvettes are gonna give him hell anyway.

Yes, I understand the Bernoulli principle which is more pronounced at higher speeds.  What I want to know from people who have Puig windscreens is does the top of the 992 Touring cut across the center of your vision?  If you have ever driven a car with a windshield crack, smudge or whatever directly in front of your line of vision, then you know what I mean.

For people who have the Puig 991 Sport windscreen, does it give any air wake benefit at speeds below 30mph?

My Bad, I got distracted. What I was getting at was if the height doesn't suit you could relocate it, and keep the "Bernoulli" effect intact. If that's the screen you are set on...
