The ones made for motorcycles/scooters have an adjustment to tighten them to the hitch to reduce the wiggle, and secure arms to tie down to.  Without those you risk it bouncing loose.  Heck even with that you risk it bouncing loose.

Me personally - I wouldn't use one of these.  I've owned one designed for motorcycles, and I wouldn't want one of them agaib either.

It sounds like you think it would be a terrible thing to do.  IMO it would be better than risking my bike on that little shelf.  The downside might be wear on the tires.  If I can't do that, then I would use a trailer. They do make small trailers you know.  The shelf thing is too much weight on the rear of the pulling vehicle and even the shelf looks too flimsy.   Our Yagers are at most 350 lbs and IMO even that is too much.   The vehicle will need special adjustments (big $$$, springs, etc.) to be safe.  Or best, put it in your pickup.

BTW your Yager is lookin good.

The "little shelf" works great. Very secure. Very little wiggling and jiggling

I have used the Shelf type carriers. They are nerve wracking at best. There is an RV here that I did some brake work on last week, and he had a Reese hitch modified with two more receivers, and his "shelf" had two extra tongues. It was used to carry a real nice Harley Sportster. I was impressed with how sturdy it is. Felt like part of the frame.

Forgot to mention there are no pinns in the extra receivers. They are for stability only.
