A little help
« on: March 29, 2012, 02:28:05 PM »
Hey
Newbie to posting but, was a lurker for a little while. I've learned a lot form the board.

Now, I have a 09 agility 50, It has the derestricted cdi and the boss has been added. These changes were done before I bought the bike. It has 17k on it .
The bike has been running well with no problems , except the need to clean the jets every now and then.

2 weeks ago, I went to clean the jets and noticed that the main jet is still a 80. My scooter shop only had an 85 and did not fit when I tried to change it.

Now the bike is running poorly when cold, it only goes about  50kmh. Previously it was going up to 70 and 75 down hill.
When the bike warms up real well , the top speed it back to about 65 kmh.

I'm unsure if it is running lean. I never had any sxs before, the spark plug was clean when I pulled it. Why would it run lean now?

Is there anything else that I can do until I change the jet? Where can I order the correct jet? I'm pulling the plug today to check it. Thanks a lot.

If you can get the variator off yourself have a look at your boss. I lost around 5mph lately and when i swapped my older worn boss for a bewer one i got it back. Also give it all a good clean inside the cvt cover when youre in there and check your belt too. If the belt is the original it prob could do with being replaced. My A50 has done around 19,000 km and i swapped my original belt at around 16,000- 17,000km.

Heres my old boss compared to the newer one, you can see the wear.

You can get a jet off ebay, look for a M5 or 5mm main jet size 82.

ya you realy wana get that 82 jet it does wonders in the cold. and if you are cleaning jets all the time then I would pull the gas tank and clean it . its a pain to get to but worth it. that or try changeing the gas filter.

Thanks Streido
I will try to figure out a way to check the boss. I have been wanting to change the belt, just in case.

Today I checked the plug and it was fine. I turned up the idle just a bit and it seemed to run back to normal. I was getting 7 kmh without wide open throttle(close though).

Thanks Blue. I live in North Carolina so, I was able to ride in the winter. The coldest that I rode in was 25 degrees so it wasn't too bad.
I think I have cleaned the jets about every 6 to 8 weeks. I don't know if that is normal or not.
But the scoot does appear to run better with the seafoam added every 2 weeks or so.

Your first post sounds like your auto choke is not working/hooked up. Re check the wires, and connectors. It sounds like ambient temp. is making it close. You can pull it out to visually test it. (the choke)
