Rearbreak caliper overhaul
« on: March 27, 2012, 12:45:37 PM »
My breaks are dragging; the breakpads won't retract and it already caused serious damage to the rear breakdisc.
Does anyone know where to get parts for a Rearbreak caliper overhaul? I especially need rubber gaskets and breakpistons.

Go to ebay motors and put in search box Xciting 500, and click on drop down box & click parts and assesories, then click search. A place out of Florida is parting out a 2007 X500. The bike only had 3'800 miles on it. I bought a variator from them. Works perfect. :-*

The three breaks on my '06 Xciting drag up to the point that they seriously wear out the discs. I changed the breaking-oil now and bled the air, but it changes nothing. The breaklevers are also very soft, notably the combination break (left).
Does anyone have experience solving this? I need to know exactly what to look at and/or what parts to buy.

I agree with munks above. You can try to rebuild your stock calipers. It really is not that hard to do if the part are available? They should be unless they did a change do to a problem, then you would have to convert to an up-dated caliper. :-*

Thanks. I could easily rebuild the calipers. I don't know where to order a Brake caliper repair kit?
Are these calipers used by other brands and or Kymco types?

Any dealer. Their service dept could tell you what parts.  :-*

Not sure about that. Here dealers won't give you partnumbers so you can buy and install them yourself. In de US they do?
