73MPG!
« on: June 18, 2012, 01:07:17 PM »
Manage to score a record in low fuel consumption yesterday - I got almost 73MPG on a 150 mile trip.

What's so great about it is that my GF was with me, we had the underseat and huge heavy 50l topcase filled with
spare clothes, rain gear, I brought my dSLR too etc. My big windscreen isn't helping things either (I actually lost some
of the top speed because of it) and at the 50-55mph average we were doing, the Dr Pulley sliders are making the engine
work at 5500 revs most of the time, while it would have been 4500-5000 on a stock setup.

Given all that stuff, I think that was an amazing fuel consumption figure, even if we were only doing 50-55mph on average.

You're looking at Opera browser screenshot, and what's taking care of my
MPGs is in my signature line.

I only have two tanks so far on my bike but the first one was if I remember correctly 70.5 and the second was 71.5.   Most of my mileage is at speeds above 40 mph, and the second tank was mostly 65mph +.

I think 75 is certainly doable if I would lay off the throttle.

That's pretty awesome!  I hope it continues to improve for you.

On my 2007 People 250 (carbureated), I have been getting record mileage this summer. At just over 36,000km, it's running better than ever, and scoring between 66-74MPG pretty consistently since I started this job with the ~30-mile interstate commute. It seems to LOVE being pushed to ~90% of capacity for 30 minutes twice a day.  :)  There's a few miles that're not on the interstate, but I estimate about 23-24 miles of the ride is on the superslab, and the P250 seems to be loving it.
