Is this variator bad?
« on: August 25, 2012, 02:58:55 PM »
Pic says it all. My variator is nowhere near smooth. There are ridges half way up its travel, then towards the top. You can see where I did 2 seperate sharpie tests. The longer line shows where there is a groove/worn area. The bike will go past there, but it takes awhile. Sooo.... is a multivar in my near future.... or is this normal? http://s1169.beta.photobucket.com/user/Nickjillb/media/c809dcc9.jpg.html#/user/Nickjillb/media/c809dcc9.jpg.html?&_suid=1345907080247018672737493076347

..over time, the vari will wear, and become uneven..

..if there are significant levels, then yeah it's time to replace it...

Will definitely look into the pipes..... i remember gettin a biturbo(not sure if they still are in business) for my puch maxi..... made a very noticeable difference for mid and hi end. Anyone who knows someone getting rid of a pipe, or knows a good deal let me know. Dont have the funds for a new one at the moment......

This may help
http://www.tuningmatters.com/2012/05/17/review-the-ultimate-scooter-tuning-exhaust-comparison-test/

Personally, I have the Tecnigas Next R. It's great for stock set up but if you think you might want a BBK eventually, go for something with a little higher power band.
