Of course to the dealer., they can make a copy with the VIN... but I don't think it's a good idea to get keys for the existing ignition knowing that the original keys are there, out there, somewhere... that may get to the wrong hands and steal your scoot.

Get a new assembly with new keys and have a peace of mind.

Some locksmiths can make copies without the key also...

Yea I could imagine getting a new battery and then my friend starts fighting for it back because I fixed it lol and then out of nowhere he has the key and takes it

How much would a new assembly run for?

You think a locks smith would charge about a 100 for it?

Thanks for the info

Really appreciate it

Where are you?

If it was me i wouldnt be too bothered about the lost key turning up later, i would leave the current ignition as is and just get a replacement key off my dealer. Get the ownership documents off your mate and get it legally registered to you, then if he tries to take it later he cant cos legally its yours.

Wouldnt imagine a new key would cost too much. Def a lot less than the new ignition and a lot less hassle.

Also as a back up get yourself a decent chain or disc lock then if the key turn up later the scoot can then not be stolen....
IF IT IS NOT BROKE DONT FIX IT:)

My last question if I go to the dealer can I get the key without any paperwork and just the vin number?

No idea. Give them a call, say you lost your keys and ask how you go about getting a replacement. You may need some kind of I.D i guess or proof you own the scoot.
