08 i have often said to my wife that if average speed cameras come into widespread use here i WILL give up driving. This will either be thro chiice or because i will lose my license, for sure. Over here we have a points system, 3 points minimum for speeding which stays as an endorsment on your license for 3 yrs, once you hit over 12 points you get a ban. I have no problem paying a fine but the points hurt. There are many, many backroads near my home that have 30mph zones for no real reason, straight open roads, i literally cannot drive at such a slow speed on such roads. Therefore while my statement is perhaps a little "dramatic" it is true none the less.
Built up busy streets and town centres and like most i keep around the limit but on open clear roads and motorways it makes no sense to me to have to go so slow, so i dont and wont.
Maybe i just got a lead foot?
