Evidentally "abs" is not mandatory otherwise all motorized vehicles would be required to have them. Like you said..to each his own for more reasons than one. Yes,
I experienced abs once on a rent all vehicle but I wasn't sold on it being something I wanted on vehicles I own. Not only all this but many people buy on a budget and many on site vehicles at dealerships do not carry the abs as stock. If some are correct, one day it will be required on everything manufactured for street use etc.

It will be in EU from 2017 for bikes, and it's impossible to buy a car without it
even now, even the cheapest Korean cars have it and it's benefits have been
proven many times.

Just like traction and stability control.

Yup, as in we all have no choice.  :'( :'( :'( They started with inflated tires to wipers, to electronic ignitions to emission controls to ECUs, etc. etc. What's next? voice control? Hey!  I love this car! you need not have a steering wheel!  Come to think of it, some cars can already park themselves! Some even automatically apply the brakes when you come close to another car in front...

Future cars won't need drivers...just operators... the fun stops!
