rode it all day-filled it up with fuel ,got to about a block from my place and it shuddered a little and stalled at the light >:(!!

just cranks but will not start-no kinks on hoses, kickstart no good, even tried turning it on with the fuel cap off-nothing!

But when i did have the scooter apart-i did notice a cap on the (which I believe) is the air cleaner two-from what i gather from kymco parts online, kept popping off while i was trying to crank it. It popped off twice.

http://kymcopartsonline.com/catalog/search_diagram_detail.php?s_fk_manufacturers_id=21&s_fk_model_year_id=1&s_fk_scooter_model_id=18&s_parts_diagram_id=445

this is the part that is behind the battery on the right side of the scoot when sitting down on it-really hard to get my hands to it!

any advice would be greatly appreciated so i can start riding this thing again!!

thanks in advance!

It has been reported that a clogged air cleaner 2 will prevent starting.

It is a charcoal cannister that provides clean air to the Pulsed Air Injection Reburn system to burn off fuel in the exhaust. If the hose pops off, it allows the vacuum line to draw too much air to start.

Try plugging the vac line to the air cleaner and see if it starts, you're probably losing too much vacuum with the open line to operate the fuel petcock.

i hate to admit this..

i had the same thing happen to me... just wouldnt start!

as the guy was rolling my scoot into his truck for the service call he noticed the kill switch was off.

i had to laugh as i gave the guy a $20 tip...

kill switch was off.

This happened to me but not because of the switch but the fuel petcock valve that was closed.

this just happened to me today.  1 block from work at a light, my scooter stuttered and just barely idled the last block.  After work, at 2 am, tried to limp it home and it did 15 mph but I could only give very light throttle any more and it bogged down.  About 1/3 of the way home it gave up and just died... a call to a sleepy wife and fitting it into a Toyota Matrix (note, it doesn't fit) and it was back home an hour later. I'll check that vacuum line... I take it the fix is to replace the carbon filter? Or is it just a loose part that needs tightening?  Is there an easy way to check this without garage tools handy?  I didn't try as I had no working light to even look at the engine at 2am but I wanted to be prepared for the next time something goes hinky out on the country road... instead of standing there and waiting for a ride.

Is the spark plug wet or dry?

You may have a clogged jet, which would make the plug dry, or a stuck float in the fuel bowl, which would flood and you'd smell fuel.

The diaphragm in the top of the carb may be torn also.

If there's fuel going to the carb, it's not getting in the engine if the jets are blocked by residue or debris.

it still sounds like a vacuum problem especially if some hoses aren't correctly attached, or the petcock may be faulty.

We're still talking carb problems, but you'll have to check the connecting wires to the coil and plug, they must be firmly attached at every union.

figured out why mine stopped... the carb needed work.  The rod that controls the amount of gas in the carb was pinned because the 3 pins that hold in in place weren't locked in correctly... apparently it inserts and then is twisted and mine untwisted somehow.  In either case, it was a 10 min fix... if you know anything about carburators.  I'm learning but I wasn't messing with it while it was still under warranty.
