New to the scooter world

   Hello all, I have a 2004 People 50 that I got early last year. As the summer time draws nearer, I will be riding the scoot on what will most likely be a daily basis. I rode it basically all of last summer, and I'm on it very frequently during the rest of the year. As much as I love my motorbike, it's just far too hot for even the shorter commutes during summer, so I'll probably reserve it for the spirited canyon rides and night time sorties. MPG's in the high 20's and filling up every four and half blocks gets rather tiring as well, all the more reason to relish in the 100 MPG that is the People 50.
   Anyways, the scoot is completely stock, and I've been looking to throw on some performance bits for my upcoming adventures. The first item of concern are the tires. They look and ride like new, but I just simply want some newer, perhaps nicer rubber. I already have a few sets in mind, but are there any sets that you guys tend to favor or have had good experience with? To my main objective, I have been particularly interested in the Malossi 70cc upgrade kits. Does anyone have a first hand, personal review of this setup? Also, given the increase in power, would it be a fair assumption that to implement roller weights of a slightly higher ratio renders greater top speed without any sacrifice-a noticeable one at least-to acceleration? Are there any other parts that should be installed in conjunction to these?

I can definitely speak to your tire info request. I ride a Like50, but just recently switched out for a set of Heidenau tires. They are wonderful. They accept a higher psi than the Kenda, are incredibly well-made, and definitely feel better on the road and in varying conditions. (I live in Florida and they handle well on wet roads as well as when encountering sand on the roads, which is a common issue here).

Not only does he ride on them, he sells them:http://www.thescootergarage.com/ and is from whom I purchased my set. He definitely has the best prices on them that I have found.
Even if you don't get a set from him, shoot him a line for some suggestions. He is a good fellow with mad knowledge of all things scooter.
If you don't find what you seek as far as the 70cc info (I don't have practical knowledge of this upgrade, myself), check out the scooterinvasion forum or the 49cc forum. A search here, though, may help you out, too. Our scooters share the same type of engine with the Cobra and Vitality2t.

...yeah, but to get a good performing scoot, you should put in a smooth drive boss, and derestrict the cdi...


..that opens the people waaaay up...for about 20 bucks...


...but you will drop about 25+mpg in doing so...

Scooter is very useful thing for every one. There are many type of scooters available in markets with different type of features and service. I like to use latest launch scooters. Here I get many details about scooter world.

Close your eyes, hold your breath, and jump in head first! Welcome to OUR world!
A few things to consider... How much do you like your scoot? Fits well, rides well, like the style? If yes to all... Is it just under powered for your needs? Tuning a BBK WILL take ALL your free time for several weeks. First finding the parts that will work, then finding the best price. Next comes learning all the "tricks" to preparing the raw parts for install. Now it's together... Getting the carb right for the new kit. That's done so you now have to tune the cvt to work with the carb. and BBK. If you are LUCKY that will be the end of it. BUT since you have learned Sooooo much about your scoot you may want to add a performance pipe. RE DO the carb to work w/ the pipe. RE DO the cvt to work w/ the new carb settings, and the pipe. Well yuo might as well do the air box now to really feel the new stuff. RE DO THE RE DO'S. Well now it runs better than any other scoot of it's type. Just noticed the OEM tires don't really hold that well... New set. Hmmm that rear shock feels "springy"... Where do you get those brighter headlights? Whats the best Ignition coil to use? Where the F' did my wife go?
If you have the time, and like tuning I say GO FOR IT!
