ZX starting tips?
« on: September 01, 2012, 02:43:37 AM »
'01 that was running fine and starting as soon as the button was pushed.

New battery

Let it sit for a month while waiting for a battery cover (I know, lazy and dumb on my part).

Part arrived and it tries to start but no fire...

On the people, after sitting, covering the square intake helps it to start... and this trick did indeed work for me a couple times...

What should I try please with the ZX?

Thanks!

tries to start but no fire...

Do you mean it doesn't start? Or it actually has no fire, no spark?
If you mean it won't start then you need to check the gas. Gas goes bad. If it's anywhere near bad gas, drain the tank, clean the carb.
If the gas was good, try choking the inlet of the carb with the airbox removed.
If you happen to have some some starting fluid or brake cleaner, give her a good shot with the throttle open and try that...
Hope this helps.....
