Hi i just purchased this 2011 kymco super 8 from the dealer.

Questions:

1)The headlights are so dim. I researched and looked around, can you bypass the cdi? If so what are the cons?
2) I was thinking of install only 1 hid on one side of the headlight. Is the scooter capable of handling the power? I'm going to run a foglight harness with switch acting as a relay so i can manually turn on the lights when key is in on position. If battery is weak, should i install 2nd battery inside storage compartment?
3) The 194 wedge bulbs in the headlights, i think is burnt out. What do those lights act as?
4) Stupid Canada motor vehicle act make this scooter have external turn signals. Is there a way i can retrofit the bulbs back into the fake winkers?

And last but not least

5) Thinking of installing a 70cc big bore kit to increase the acceleration so i can keep on with local city traffic. Is there another kit that is compaitable or a link i can purchase the kit from? Does anyone have a step chart on how to take it apart? There were lots of info for my 02 vino but nothing online for 2011 kymco super 8.

Much appreciated.

1. If you mean the light control module, then yes you can by-pass. It it being done by other s8 owners. However, I just installed a LED fog light on my Super 8.

I converted an H3 fog light to Super bright LED.

2. Yes, Some also install single HIDs and we call them "one eye jack"  You can carry, not install, a spare battery in cases of emergencies. A smaller one will do.

3. Those wedge bulbs are park lights. U.S. version super 8s park lights don't operate because the headlights turn on automatically when you start the engine. Euro and Asian version have park light and headlight switches.

4. Those winkers are there to comply with the law. Check your laws if you can convert your winkers to the original ones.

Thanks for the awesome reply. I just bypassed the lcb module which is located in the front of the headlights. My 194 wedge bulbs don't seem to work but no bother. Tried to install a yellow h4 bulb, worked for a bit but it blew my fuse. Back at stock now. Will run hid with separate relay and switch.

I don't see any issues about installing the lights back into the winkers. Spoke with most of my officer friends and they said its ok. The lights have to be Amber and visible.

Do you have a step by step diagram to install lights back into winkers? Looks like I'm going to have to drill another hole for a compatible light socket harness.

And one more thing, would you know by any chance what size bulbs are in the instrument clusters? And how many do I need?

The cluster lights bulb sizes are wedge 194. You need 4-5 bulbs.

Big bore kit on a 2t is pretty straight forward. Remove body plastic to gain easy access to the engine. Pull the 4 bolts out of the head and the head and cylinder come right off. Replace the piston and wrist pin and it's ready to be put back together. I'd soak the piston, rings, and wrist pin in 2t oil overnight.

You may want to consider running premix after the bbk. Most people do.
