Great Deal for Oil & filter for DT 300i
« on: May 01, 2013, 12:33:11 AM »
Just to make a note if you live in the US. Motorcycle Superstore has the Hiflofiltro oil filters for $4.25 and the Motul 100% synthetic Scooter Power oil 4T 5W40 for $11.99. this is the cheapest I found so far. Just thought I pass the word. The shipping charges are very reasonable.

Thanks Joe...I am having the hardest time here in the DFW area of Texas finding Kymco parts....the dealer I bought my 2013 DT 300 from doesnt stock THAT particular filter....whats up with that??? Sells me a brand new bike and et has no parts for it. Granted it is a 2013 but can you imagine Ford, Dodge or Toyota not stocking parts for the new cars they sell?

Will filters for a 2012 DT300i work? Also I have a question I hope some of you fine folks can answer. A Harley guy at work swears that you do not want to use synthetics until after a few regular oil changes. What say you all? Thanks

Loves me some DT 300i....first tank 68.5, second 71, the third one I am babying the throttle just to see what I can get.

I buy my oil at canadian tire   or walmart when it is on sale,. mobil 100 % synthetic  5 w 50      and do not use synthetic oil befor your scooter is broken in ,. I switched to syn. oil at 600 miles for the motor ,. the tranny can use syn. oil from the git go,.   and I allways change the oil hot,  be for any crap in the oil has a chance to settle,.

I spoke directly to Kymco via email. They said that after brake in at least 200 miles then it was fine to use synthetic. I have synthetic on both engine and gear lube.
Oil filter should be the same for DT 300i on 2011, 2012, & 2013. Same bike no changes that I'm aware of. That is why I got the 2012 and saved over $600.00.

Before the Kymco the prior 3 bikes have been Piaggio and all the fluid are synthetic, works great in the heat and cold last longer and with Motul scooter power prices it's not much more than regular oil and it protects the bike better. Remember must scooters are one cylinder a few 2 cylinder but they work hard.

I choose to protect my investment.
