Kymco Product Support
« on: September 09, 2012, 01:44:43 PM »
After 1200 miles on my 2012 Like 200i I started having service engine notifications (Red Light). After the third incident KYMCO reps were called and this week I pick up a brand new 2013 KYMCO Like 200i.
All I'm saying is that they stand by their product and for the price I'm happy with KYMCO and my dealer. :)

Maybe times are changing, with the parent company's full re-acquisition of KymcoUSA. I can tell you that two years ago, this would not be happening.

I'm quite pleased to hear that your problem is to be fully addressed in a timely manner. Most encouraging!

Hi Allen, May I ask if the service techs or Kymco reps told you what they thought was the reason for the error light? It may be of interest to all of us Like owners...Len

First error was a temp sensor and that was replaced, 150 miles later engine light started again and the entire ECU was replaced, 200 miles later another engine light and the new scooter was arranged.
For me the most aggravating issue is the time required for any part to arrive. I can't blame the dealer and I became very short tempered about the time gaps without the bike.
I want this scooter to run 18 miles to work and then back (daily).
I want a reliable alternative to my 18 mpg truck. I have had motorcycles in the past and rode them for different reasons I need to be able to depend on any scooter daily (weather permitting).
This is my second KYMCO scooter but first brand new one I chose it based on warranty and price I hope the new bike lives up to my expectations.

I'm just glad they're taking care of you. There was a customer of mine who had an Xciting 500 with issues that could not be resolved, not even after the "master mechanic" @ KymcoUSA HQ rebuilt the engine himself... and still, it took nearly a year and the threat of Lemon Law litigation before he got a replacement X500. This started over two years ago, though; it sounds like perhaps the mothership having 100% ownership stake in KymcoUSA may have changed this in the meantime.

It was not even the dealer where I got my scoot from but the dealer nearest to where I was at.... Kymco dealers make money in service... tune-ups, oil change, cvt service, etc. They recruit any if possible all Kymco owners and offer very low labor and parts prices with very good customer service...  These are offers I find very difficult to refuse. Maybe it's also because there are lots of us here, they just cannot ignore the market...  a full engine rebuild for what? 1,500 pesos labor??? that's $33.00!!

Maybe partly too that Kymco pays them top dollar for warranty service/repairs. I make triple my hourly on Sea Ray warranty work because they pay BOOK rate on labor. If the book says three hours to do a project I always finish well under the book time. Pluss a country FULL of scooters has to be an influence. there are not as many scoots here at all.

Exclusive Kymco dealers here also accept other brands for service/repairs....
