starter bendix
« on: September 27, 2012, 03:01:39 AM »
Because of all the mods I have done I tooke the cvt cover off today just to double look to see if everything is ok which its is.But I did notice the starter bendix is rubing on the beld a little the small metal ring around the bendix has belt wear on it.Should I worry about this is it going to be ok for a while. I dont have my kick start on the scoot at all.maybe I need to go back to it and take the bendix out.the scoot stell runs fine and starts up realy good. may for a while ill just wont ride full throttle.

I like my elec start too much. Tried taking out the bendix but i got pissed off kicking it so put it back in. Doesnt hit the belt that much, mostly downhill or over 45mph.
Chaos is my co-pilot.

@ blue : Since the damage is only minimal as far as I understand, and you've been riding this way for ages already, I would keep the bendix. Just clean everything and check again in a week or so to see how fast ( / if ) the wear progresses.. As long as you can't see the fibers of the belt through the rubber on top, it will be okay anyway ;D.

For me, an electric starter is mandatory on a scooter...

In my youth I owned a few Yamaha bikes which only had a kickstarter - but on those bikes it was on the right side and not obstructed by tupperware, so you could kick it while sitting on the bike - and even then it wasn't funny if it didn't start at the first kick   8)
