OUCH  :o

Have to say that 90% of the accidents were down to bad/stupid riding, riders ignoring traffic signs or riders not paying attention. Another 5%-8% look to be caused by the car drivers (at least 2-3 of the drivers look to actually TRY to hit the scoots), that leaves maybe 1%-2% of them that were just "accidents" that would be pretty unavoidable.

My favorites are the couple where the camera is focused on the road ahead then some nut slides past on the road closely follkwed by his scoot sliding behind him lol, i've been there  ;D

Looks dangerous riding there anyway, wherever in Asia it is.
Chaos is my co-pilot.

Vivo, why is there such gross disregard for personal safety in traffic in countries like China, Philippines, India, almost all of East Asia, all of Africa?
Some kind of cultural thing - yet, these countries are culturally completely different?

I can only speak for our country.... Politics, People's resistance to change, poverty, culture, etc., etc, these are just examples....

However,  things are changing but not that fast... now we have motorcycle lanes, proper riding gear is already a law, helmet law, noise level, daytime riding lights, etc.   The real problem is the implementation of these in the far provinces. It's really a different story there compared to the metropolis.

Riders in the Metropolis.....

In the provinces.....

The singage above "No wearing of helmet" "No wearing of face mask" is an ordinance of one City where there are more incidence of snatching, theft, killings/shootings of motorcyle riding men than motorcycle accidents. Criminals take advantage of the helmets to hide their faces from the City's CCTV and get away with the crime.

I can somewhat understand because I have been in some countries in Asia and Africa, but it can be completely incomprehensible to people who have not.
Anyway, what's the point of windows being rolled down? :)

Almost all cars here have heavily tinted windows and windshields... especially Kidnappers' vans...

If windows are rolled down, the Police can at least see inside...

In the provinces, the government has it's hands full... the New Peoples Army, Bandits, Kidnappers, Carnappers, Smugglers, Warlords, etc. ... no time for helmet laws there.....

It is interesting that over here pretty much everything is completely the opposite.

Speed limit is 50 km/h in the city center.

Windows are not allowed to be tinted, especially not front and front side, the law allows for just a few percent tinting while the rear and rear side windows may be tinted a bit more, don't know how much exactly. But nobody does that except ricer-kiddies. The law is not geared towards enabling look from outside to inside, but vice versa, law maker is worried about lowered driver's ability to see outside if the windows are too much tinted.

Helmets are mandatory.

There is no window rolling down law. :)

Also many newer cars have auto-door-lock with timer or lock being activated above certain speed. For example, in my car locks go down above 40 km/h.

Finally, in Europe, if there is elevated crime levels, it is usually in the big cities, especially in the suburbs. Villages, or provinces as you call them, have generally much LOWER crime rates than cities.

Everything is upside down, either here or over there. :)

Metropolis speed limit is 60 kph... some cities have their own ordinances... 30 - 40 kph...

Rich people tint their cars to avoid being spotted by kidnappers especially.  They feel naked without the tint. Criminals also have heavily tinted vehicles....  Ricey kids prefer not to tint so they can be seen by friends. ;D

Cars here also have auto door locks...

Crimes in villages or provinces usually are undocumented...

Since cultures, practices differ from one place to another, laws will also differ.

Too painful to look at. Made it through the first 6-8 before I stopped. A student at one of the universities were I teach was killed on his motorcycle this week. While driving too fast down a two lane road he ran into a car pulling out of a driveway. He was wearing a helmet but was thrown 30 feet and later died at the hospital.

Can't believe how stupid some of the riders are in those videos, especially the guy who blatantly ran the red light and was broadside by the car coming in the crossing direction. Seriously, what possesses a person to do something like that?
