Fast is more fun - Radar Detector
« on: November 11, 2012, 11:59:33 AM »

Sometimes I drive my scoot a 'little fast.'

I'll see a cop and wonder why I wasn't stopped. If I was in my car they would have stopped me for sure.

Is it that, they see it's a scooter and just think of it as a slower vehicle? . . . Or is it just harder to measure the speed of a scooter?

Anyway a radar detector is actually made for bikes n' scoots.
I don't think I need one but it's interesting to read about.

Has anyone gotten a speeding ticket on a scooter ?

I imagine it's happened to someone somewhere.

I had a BMW F650GS before the scoot and when I went by those
fixed speed reading signs I noticed it read low until I was about
10 feet from it. I'd be doing 40 and it would read 30 until I was on
top of it so maybe bikes and scoots get a freebee on this one?

I always wondered, your speedometer reads wrong by 10% usually
but when you get a ticket it's for the same or more than the speedo reads.
Why?

I believe the police allow bikes and scooters to go faster than the other
vehicles, for one it's safer as you can stay out of their way.

Probably to millions of people all over the world.

I have a laser jammer in my car.  ;D I was set back for 600 US$ but that's the price of a single speeding ticket, so I guess it pays off.

Radar detector would be useless because radars (X/K/Ka band) have not been in use here in (a) decade(s).
In countries with old stationary radars they would be very beneficial. I used them for years, even sold them...
