Booking trip to a great LIKE scooter shop!
« on: September 15, 2013, 04:49:24 PM »
Look at what forum member Andymann did on Friday.

"On Friday the 13th I was lucky enough to find a shop to change my Like's Drive belt, air cleaner and roller weights.  Got 20% off on parts and no cost for labor. It had 12,670 kilometers on it and would stall in idle traffic.  Replacing the air cleaner somehow addressed the stalling.  The engine also became quieter. With the full face helmet I was trying to listen out for the usual sound but I was pleasantly surprised to hear lesser noise.  All parts put in are original Kymco parts so that's piece of mind for me.
Andymann"

OK, this is too good an opportunity to pass up - so , since I know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who knows a girl who's brother-in-law has a boat - we are signing up LIKE owners to take a little trip to visit this great scooter repair shop! We have room for about 50 riders and their LIKE's on the boat. Vivo says this lovely island resort destination is near Guam (I gotta map) so we have no worries, mate!

PS: BYO lawn chairs and a bag lunch and sun screen.

Thanks Andymann for your post!

Stig, Andyman lives about an hour ride from my place.. He has his Kymco shop, I have mine...  There are around 200 or more Kymco dealers and shops here competing with each other... that's why they offer big discounts and free labor to Kymco owners....  As a matter of fact, I was tempted to buy a brand new Super 8 front panel for 30% off (the one near the headlight... the "Y" shaped red thing with the "Super 8" sticker, lower right picture), but decided to spend elsewhere...

Hi Vivo,

How do dealers stay in business giving away free labor? Here in the states dealers would close if not for the labor on continued service. It's service and parts that keep dealers in business here.

Hi Vivo,

They already have a nice mark-up on parts... And they import parts by the bulk which makes it cheaper too... Yes, they charge for "service only" but free labor if you buy parts... Remember, our tiny country has more than four million registered motorcycles...and they have their hands full with that...

Bring your own belt to the shop and they will charge for belt change service.... Buy belt from the shop, and they will change your belt for free...

Kymco dealers also service other scoot brands but don't have parts for them...
