Hello- I have a brand new 2013 Agility 50. Ran fine since I bought it, and I just had the 200 mile service and paid extra to have it derestriced.

Now I will get going down the road, and come to a light or stop sign and stop. When I go to give it throttle to take off, 70% of the time the motor will bog down like it wants to die. Sometimes I'll go to a stop and it will die. I'll recrank it, get it going and if I wait 1-2 minutes, the RPMs will go up, dash lights get brighter. I'll feather the throttle or give it normal throttle and it will take off normally.

Brand new scoot so I'm just wondering if the techs who did my service/derestriction didn't do it right.

I have tried increasing the carb screw 1/4 turn and 1/2 turn more to see if that was it but it did not help. I haven't tried running it leaner.

Not sure if it is ignition, too much fuel, not enough fuel. I'm not a gearhead but have a basic understanding. I will try to get it into the shop and have them fix it but I'd like to go in armed with info.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks---

ok this is everything that needs done the cdi box needs to be eather cut or replace with raceing cdi box. And a 82 jet put in and a smooth drive boss.  All 3 needs to be done to have full derestrricton work . But it almost sounds like they didnot replace the jet or the jet is not tight. or didnt do all 3.

Could be any number of things. If it was fine before you put it in and its not fine now then it must be something they did. I would let them sort it out, and dont take any b.s excuses from them about it being your fault.

Poss wrongly jetted, leaking carb or leaking manifold or a whole host of other issues.

Good luck.

Kimmie is back on the road. They replaced the float bowl gasket. They guy said the Kymco ones are thin and they replaced it with a Yamaha one that is interchangable. He also said it had nothing to do with the de-restriction. As I'm not a motorhead, I don't know if they have to take apart the carb to put in the bigger jet. Anyway it's running like it should now, no charge. Just posting for information.

Yeah you remove the float bowl cover to rejet. The rubber gasket in there works just fine but older ones can get a bit warped/stretched so will leak, newer ones are fine tho if refitted properly. My guess is they didnt have the gasket seated perfect after doing the rejet so it was leaking. They either did fit a new gasket or just reseated the old one when the saw it. Doesnt really matter, its working now and thats the main thing  :)

I used a little gasket sealer on my carb just to hold the gasket in place when refitting the carb bowl cover.

Streido, did the derestriction make much difference?

Yup. Went from a top speed of 31-34mph up to 43-44mph on flats. No point doing any other tuning or mods until you derestrict it. It also feels safer on the road since you can ride at a safe 40mph and keep up in traffic.
