Selmer, TN to Springfield, MO and back
« on: September 18, 2012, 07:25:08 PM »
Went to Springfield to check out some trikes for DW. Rode with her on a Buddy 150 and me on the Yager along with  four dogs, a bird and the travel bag. Crossed the Mississippi on a ferry from Hickman, KY and stayed in Sikeston, MO for the first night. Had Lambert's "throwed rolls" take-out in the room and woke up to a flat tire on the Buddy. Being Monday all the few cycle shops in Sikeston were closed so we finally "slimed" the rear tire and made it to Springfield that afternoon. Pulled into the motel and green stuff was running out the back tire at the valve stem. Next morning took the tire and wheel to Ozark Powersports and junked the Shinko and tube for a Kenda blackwall tubeless. Ozark is a good outfit we have done business with before. Made it to the shop with the trikes only to find ya can't ride one before ya buy even if you ride in on two wheels. Went to Bass Pro and Branson to visit with friends there and get some oil filters at Hollister Cycle. Overnighted in Mansfield, MO and cruised to Sikeston again for more "throwed rolls" at Lambert's. Took the ferry the next day to Hickman and then home.

US 60 between Sikeston and Springfield is smooth as glass since MODOT has ground all the old concrete nicely in preparation for a thin skin of asphalt. Might be a dull four-lane but a pleasantly smooth ride.

Tubes in little wheels is NOT a good idea since the heat build-up kills the tube. While the Buddy 150 might not be the ideal bike for extended travel it ran flawlessly for over 800 miles as did the Yager. She is thinking about a bigger ride with a bigger gas tank and bigger tires and wheels. I think the Blur has her attention.

Nice write up! Isn't a bummer that you can't test ride anything anymore...
I don't mind helping out and love to see pictures!

There's a Blur near me for $2000! http://www.cycletrader.com/listing/2010-Genuine-Scooter-Company-Blur-SS220i-107820010
Probably too far for you though...

I might have gone for one of those but they are air cooled.
The Yager is about perfect water cooled, fuel injection, flat floorboard,
good under seat storage. You can tell it's too good as they discontinued it!

How did the critters like riding? My dogs loved riding in the car but never put them on a bike!

Dogs love riding! They are always ready!

Yeah, the Blur is too far away and I agree with you about aircooled after being spoiled by the Yager. I would be simple if I could just get her to sit on the Yager......

She has given up on the three-wheeler and a Like 200i (163 cc??) and will for now stick with the Buddy. you can't pry the Yager out of my stiff fingers!

Thanks again for the help!
