fuse box downtown 300i

there is a box on top of the battery on my downtown 300i, I assume it is the fuse box, and if it is, what's the trick to open it up? I didn't what to force it until I was sure, any help would be appreciated.

Just fiddled with mine today! Same fuse box as on the Yager except it is on top of the battery box in the 300i instead of under the battery box like on the Yager. One end has a narrow catch and the other has a wide catch. Squeeze the fuse box lengthwise pressing in the fuse box end and not the lid. The narrow catch pointy end will eventually release if you hold your mouth right and say the right words (be sure you are alone!). Then the wide catch will release when you swing the lid open. I had the seat off and the "met-in" tub out and it was still hard to open just like on the Yager.

that was helpful and very funny, you made my day, anyway, after reading your response I checked it out again and found that the front cover on the fuse box had one end that had a paint mark on it, mine was a teal blue color, and all I had to do is press that end in with just one finger (towards the other end) and the cover came off real easy ( with no bad words said out loud at all ) lol, now I have some relief in knowing how to get in the fuse box in case one blows.

You are very welcome, Don! The gang on these forums will have some kind of answer to just about everything and most of them will be right. The feeling is that everyone wants to help in any way they can and that is a good thing. Nothing can be more frustrating than trying to get something to open like the fusebox and feeling like you have to destroy it just to get it open. Wait until you have to remove some of the plastic panels (tupperware) to get at something inside. The factory service manual is virtually NO help on that!
