Losing power
« on: July 11, 2013, 02:06:17 AM »
I have a 2012 super 8 2t and did not do any mods for the first 600ish miles. A couple days ago I replaced to an 82 main jet on the carb and installed the smooth drive boss. When I go uphill I'm losing power so much that if I don't back off the throttle I could stall. My guess is that it's not getting the proper fuel but I'm not sure how to correct, or if there is a restriction I'm unaware of. Please help. Thanks.

Have u carried out an exhaust upgrade ? If not, it sounds like your bike is now running rich. Have you still got the original jet ?

I have not made any modifications to exhaust yet. I was hoping to soon. I do have the orignal jet, I assume i need to install the orignal until I'm able to upgrade eshaust?

Also, I'm looking to increase the overall speed of the bike without spending a lot of money. Do you know of anything else i can do here in the short future until I'm able to upgrade? From what i've read on these forums it sound like "not much". Thanks.

Use a performance variator and put the stock main jet back in.

Put the stock jet back in and look through my thread in the zx50 50-60 mph thread.
All the info you need is in there regarding boss skimming and mixture setting.
I know it's a different model but ultimately a two stroke scooter... Is a two stroke scooter! You'll get 50 mph+ if you follow the guide

I got about 8kph out of welding up the exhaust more info on this in the tech/how to posts I've just added some pics to.after the exhaust mod I needed the 82 jet.then after porting the inlet manifold I went up to a 90 jet I'll post more on this in a couple off weeks still waiting on a carby so as to post all results in one post. Do the exhaust mod and you won't look back.
Go hard or die trying,lol
