I owned a Vespa 300 GTI and a Kymco GT 300i.  I sold the Vespa and kept the Kymco because, among other things, I believed that the Kymco would be a more reliable (and less expensive) bike in the long run.

Your probably right, I was watching a Vespa wrenching video the other day and they said
the dealer charges $120 per hour to work on those things! To check the valves you need to
strap down the front of the bike, disconnect the shocks and lower the wheel until you can
get to head bolts so your $6000 bike is balancing precariously the whole time! I think that
 was done on purpose to get you to spend the $120 per hour...
