My military scooter conversion of my Like 200i
« on: April 29, 2013, 01:01:21 PM »
Good day all!  Having been in the military several years ago, I have always wanted to build some kind of tribute to the military.  After stumbling across this picture, I decided on what I was going to do.

After doing some research, I found how I am going to do this.  I am going to be taking all the body panels off, then painting each one with white Plastidip spray paint.  This is the same paint that people use to put on handles on their tools so that their hands don't slip off.  The great thing about this paint is that you do not need to sand down the original body panels.  If at any time you want to return back to the original color, you can just peel it off.  The Plastidip actually protects the original paint.

So after I paint everything white, I'll be taping off the white star along with a few other things (I'm not going to be putting the MP on it).  I'm then going to be painting over the white Plastidip with normal Olive Drab spray paint.  Then I'll go back and take off the tape and the white star will show.

Later on I will be adding a CB radio to the scoot with a large antenna mounted to the back rack.  This should finish the military theme.  I'll be updating this thread in the weeks to come to show the progress.

Nice, that's going to look very cool.

So are you going to be riding in your fatigues and combats?  8)

Now if you have a dot approved camo helmet that would make a neat pic!

Can't wait to see the bike when you're done.
I Like you.  Do you Like me?

Well, my BDUs don't exactly fit me like they used to!  Since I'm going to be riding this scoot on a regular basis I won't be wearing them or any new fatigues.  I'll stick to my fire hose pants and riding jacket.

I have thought about getting a Kevlar and wearing my BDUs should I decide to try to ride it in a parade.

I saw this picture and thought just for a second about how much fun it would be, and how quickly traffic would get out of my way if I were to put a mock cannon on it!!  I got a good chuckle out of it before reality smacked me upside my head and I realized how quickly I would end up getting arrested because someone would end up calling 911 saying there's a mad man on a scooter with a cannon!!

You could also complement your military scoot with a nice olive drab helmet... I'll be looking forward to your finished product... good luck Sir!  ;)
