Wednesday
I have 411 miles on the Like - and today my new set of Michelin City Grips arrived in the mail. Scheduled my first service with my dealer for Sat morning to have them installed. $135 they quoted me.
Have ridden 4 times in the dark & rain to work....and one 5:00 AM horrendous ride in the dark, in thick fog.
The face sheild soaked over w/fine beads of fog, my breath fogged over the insides - lifting the sheild simply fogged my glasses totally. OK, it is pitch dark, I'm blind and it does not look good for a stop at Tim Horton's - turning around I took off my glasses, raised the face sheild and followed the yellow center line 4 miles to work. So much moisture in the air, and on the streets, I was soaked on my front - but for the 1st time in 18 yrs I was happy to see my co-worker~! (my vision is 20 / 220)
When I got home, I went on-line and ordered the set of Michelin City Grips from amazon for $110. (free ship, no tax) and some stuff for outside of the face sheild and anti-fogging stuff for the inside of the face sheild.
Slipping about in the dark & wet; or blind & dark in the wet - but never again both, I hope!I will keep the Kendas for spares. FYI - after much research and talking with scooter forums here and in Germany, the UK and Australia - it came down to the Michelin City Grips or the Heidenau K58 tires. Have had Michelins on all my cars - so went that way.
Will report back on this, my first, experience with my dealer's service dept. and on the new City Grips. (I know.....have to break in the tires again~!) Let the dealer do my valves ? - we'll see how they do with the tires. Might take Mem. Day holiday and do my own.....
