Parking / storage of your scoot
« on: May 15, 2013, 07:03:28 PM »
Who parks their scoot outside all the time and for how long, do you cover it or not, what climate is the scoot parked in if you leave it out for long periods of time?

Mine is usually in the garage if I know it may rain (I don't like a wet seat and don't have  a cover) and during winter it's in the garage often hooked to a tender.

Mine is always outside, but I cover it at night regardless of the weather forecast.  I sure wish I had a garage, though.

I'm lucky enough to have a nice big heated garage at home. I usually put the cover on though to keep the dust off. At work I park in the shade and put a plastic garbage bag over the seat in case of rain. I usually don't ride in the rain, but I have Frogtogs if I get caught at work.

I park outside... home or at work.... I cover my scoot... home or at work... except when in malls...

The cover is mainly for three concerns... protecting my headlight lens from the sun, deter thieves, and shield from bird droppings....

Garage at home, secured lot at work, anywhere I can find a space at all other destinations. I have a cover and use it if the scoot is going to be parked anywhere but my own garage overnight. Winterized, it will be shifted to one side in the garage so it's easier to get the snow blower out.

At home my scoot is outside but it's under a carport.  So it's exposed to the open air but at least its dry.  At work I don't have much of a choice, it's out in the open.  Since I work 2nd/3rd shift I can place it under a overhang on rainy days normally.

I've considered getting a cover but can not find one that's reasonable.

My scoot is always in the garage at home unless I am cleaning or working on it.  At work or when I'm out, it is parked outside - no cover.  Where I work, if it was covered, people would lift the cover to see what was underneath.  I had an assigned parking spot, but it was next to where people would smoke.  I would come out to find cigarette ash in the dimples of the seat, so I stopped parking in my assigned spot.  Security asked why, and I told them, so they moved my spot.

I bought a silver cover on eBay for $18 or so that has worked really well for me.  The first one I bought was dark colored and the sun destroyed it.
